Coffee Able Lower Skin Cancer Risk

Coffee is often accused of being a drink that has adverse effects on health. But recently scientists discovered the existence of positive effects from drinking this one.

According to one study, a woman who drank three cups of coffee or more a day turned out to have 20% lower risk of skin cancer when compared with those who spent only one cup of coffee each month. In men, drinking coffee in the same amount could reduce the risk to 9% only against skin cancer such as basal cell carcinoma or BCC (the most common type of skin cancer).

A researcher named Fengju Song is based on the scientific study of data drawn from the Nurses? Health Study who oversees more than 70,000 people from June 1984 ? June 2008. Data were also taken from The Health Professionals Follow-Up Study involving nearly 40,000 participants since June 1986 ? June 2008.

From these data, found the existence of 25,480 cases of skin cancer that consists of as many as 22,785 cases of BCC, squamous cell carcinoma as many as 1,953 cases, and cases melanosa only 741.

From the results of these studies note that the BCC be the most common skin cancer that affects the people. The reason could be because it is too long or too often the skin interacts with sunlight containing ultraviolet. The use of sun beds or tanning beds which also contain ultraviolet contributed to increase the risk of skin cancer.

As a caffeinated beverage, coffee has long been known to reduce the risk of several diseases such as breast cancer, uterine cancer, prostate, and colon cancer. This time coffee alleged may lower the risk of skin cancer.
